What a wonderful opening program on Tuesday evening, February 28, 2017this evening. The room was packed with over 500 attendees.
CSUN Director Sandy Plotin opened the evening with some thanks to various people and organizations and commenting that this is the BEST conference so far.
Conference Chair, Mike Paciello added his remarks and said that he was truly honored to be this year’s conference chair.
He then introduced Dr. Kellie Lim who gave a very memorable and moving keynote address.
Dr. Lim recounted her childhood years with a mother and aunt whose sight degenerated into blindness when she was a child, but she walked her children to school every day without any assistive devices. Dr. Lim herself contracted bacterial meningitis that lead to life threatening sepsis. At one point given only a 15% chance of survival by her doctors, she fought and persevered even though she had the lower part of both legs, her right arm and several fingers on her left hand. The physical triumphs of her life are incredible, but what I found more inspiring is the fact she feels so blessed for all the good things in her life and doesn’t dwell on her challenges.
What a great start to the 32nd CSUN!!!
