We've begun our planning for the 2016 Wildfire Community Preparedness Day in Canada which will be held on May 7, 2016!

In partnership with Partners in Protection/FireSmart Canada, the Institute of Catastrophic Loss Reduction (ICLR) and the Cooperators Insurance Group the NFPA is once again this year promoting this day as the continent wide day to recognize Wildfire Preparedness in all communities across Canada and the US... especially those that have significant risk due to location or proximity to the Wildland Urban Interface.

Stay tuned for more information and how you, your community and area of jurisdiction can get involved and join in.

Aging in place, durable medical equipment, senior housing, home health care and paramedicine-what do these have in common?  They will be among the topics of discussion at the upcoming Summit on Safe, Independent Living: Home Health Care, Aging Populations, and the Residential Environment.  This summit will engage a range of stakeholders on the steps needed to manage the range of home health care challenges that will only increase in magnitude in the next decade.  Independent living is a goal that we all strive for.  Staying in one place-at home- is preferred regardless if recovering from an injury or illness or as we get older. Established options like home health care make that choice easier.  A relatively new concept, paramedicine bridges the gap somewhere between traditional home health care and emergency transport to the hospital. What does this mean for codes, standards, first responders and the public at large?  Join us in Orlando to help find the answers to these-and other-questions. The summit is free of charge.  Click on the link below to learn more and to register to attend.
