Fire Protection Research Foundation Names 2011 Harry C. Bigglestone Award Winner

The Fire Protection Research Foundation announces the 2011 Bigglestone Award for Excellence in Communication of Fire Protection Concepts goes to Robert Jansson and Lars Borstrom for their paper, “The Influence of Pressure in the Pore System on Fire Spalling of Concrete.”  The Harry C. Bigglestone award is presented annually, along with a $5,000 cash prize, to the authors of the most outstanding paper submitted to Fire Technology during the previous calendar year, as voted by the International Editorial Board. In the same vein, at this year’s NFPA Conference & Expo, the Foundation's Kathleen Almand and Jack Watts of the Fire Safety Institute will present on Sunday, June 12 at 11:00 a.m., “Bigglestone Award Retrospective:  25 Years of Advances in Fire Protection Engineering and Research,” highlighting eight of the 25 Bigglestone award-winning papers.  It’s an informative and interesting forum you don’t want to miss.  We hope to see you there!
