NFPA Journal app now available at the Apple App StoreWe’re pleased to announce that our new NFPA Journal app is now live and available for download from Apple’s App Store. The free, easy-to-navigate app allows you to download complete editions of the award-winning NFPA Journal to your iPad or iPhone, giving you access to the magazine anytime, anywhere, even when you’re not connected to the Web. You can also view videos, link to websites, and share articles with colleagues. It seems appropriate that the inaugural issue for the new app is our May/June magazine, which is filled with information previewing the upcoming NFPA Conference & Expo in Las Vegas.

The app joins our new digital-issue feature, which debuted in early May. The Web-based digital issue of Journal presents the complete magazine as it appears in print, with all websites and emails hot-linked to provide a fully interactive reader experience on your desktop or laptop computer, as well as on your iPad, iPhone, or Android. If you haven’t already, be sure to give the digital version of the May/June issue a test run before the Conference & Expo.

We’re excited about both of these new NFPA Journal products, and we look forward to getting your feedback.

Harry ShawHarry Shaw, a pillar of the fire protection community and NFPA advocate, died on March 2 at the age of 91. He served as a member of NFPA's Technical Committee on Automatic Sprinkler Systems since 1987 and was the driving force behind further refinements to NFPA 13D, Installation of Sprinkler Systems in One- and Two-Family Dwellings and Manufactured Homes.

Christian Dubay, NFPA's vice president of Codes and Standards and chief engineer, praised Shaw's contributions to fire safety in the latest edition of NFPA Journal: "With Harry’s passing, we’ve lost a  man who, through his many years of service and advocacy, left a legacy  of commitment to that mission."

Read the Journal article for more information on Shaw's legacy.
