NFPA's Casey Grant talks about new report on ambulance crash data

Motor vehicle crashes involving ambulances used for emergency medical services pose serious risk to both the crew and the patients. Casey Grant, research director for the Fire Protection Research Foundation, co-authored a report, which is available for free on NFPA’s website, that looked at the need for a system to compile and coordinate data on ambulance crashes at a national level. Casey will be presenting his report findings at an educational session here in Las Vegas on Monday morning. Watch a preview of his presentation:

The report, co-authored by Brian Merrifield, an intern for the Research Foundation, concluded that ambulance crash data collection at the state level is significant in quantity, but from a national perspective, often lacks uniformity. It also found that the information collection infrastructure for ambulance crash data is relatively well-evolved, but has room for enhancements and improvements.
