NFPA’s booth #914 in the Expo Hall was very, very busy. Lots of new friends and many old ones. My Wednesday morning presentation entitled: Who’s Responsible for Emergency Evacuations? Not First Responders! was well attended by about 40 people all of whom seemed to enjoy it and the interactive exercises. And yes, Stevie Wonder browsed the Expo Hall again this year engaging many vendors and attendees. This was NFPA’s 8th year at this annual conference and we’re already making plans to attend and present next year’s conference February 27 through March 4, 2017.
The CSUN Center on Disabilities, through the Annual International Technology and Persons with Disabilities Conference, has provided an inclusive setting for researchers, practitioners, exhibitors, end users, speakers and other participants to share knowledge and best practices in the field of assistive technology. This year’s numbers are not in yet, but from my vantage point this was the largest yet! The new technology is amazing, vendors are knowledgeable and the attendees are some of the friendliest people I’ve met anywhere. Save the date and I’ll see you there next year.
