NFPA 2112 and NFPA 1975

Blog Post created by ericnette Employee on Jun 17, 2015

Do NFPA 2112 garments adhere to more strict performance requirements than NFPA 1975 garments?

NFPA 2112 and NFPA 1975 are standalone documents. NFPA 1975 was developed to apply to nonprimary protective work apparel and NFPA 2112 was developed to apply to garments used in areas that can be exposed to flash fires. The requirements of the standards should not be compared to one another as they were developed for completely different applications. Before the application of either standard, a careful assessment should be performed regarding which standard should be applied, what the hazard is, and the regulatory requirements.
