The first edition of NFPA 1730, Standard on Organization and Deployment of Fire Prevention Inspection and Code Enforcement, Plan Review, Investigation, and Public Education Operations to the Public, was prepared by the Technical Committee on Fire Prevention Organization and Deployment and issued by the Standards Council on May 26, 2015, with an effective date of June 15, 2015. The initial request for a document dealing with staffing a fire prevention office was submitted by the NFPA Southern Regional Fire Code Development Committee. The standard addresses the organization and deployment of a fire prevention organization which includes code enforcement, plans examination, investigation and public education.
