Following the April 2013 explosion of a fertilizer plant in West, TX, the President issued an Executive Order calling together the collective resources of several government agencies (ATF, DHS, EPA, OSHA and others) to focus on addressing the hazards associated with chemical facilities and seeking actions to safeguard the workers and the public from future incidents.  One of the products from this initiative is an advisory document on safe storage, handling, and management of solid ammonium nitrate (AN) in prill form.  The agencies have just completed a revision to this chemical advisory document and incorporated changes based on the recently published 2016 edition of NFPA 400, Hazardous Materials Code.  For a copy of this updated document, use the following link. https://www2.epa.gov/rmp/chemical-advisory-solid-ammonium-nitrate-storage-handling-and-management
