As part of our grilling fire safety campaign with Stop & Shop, NFPA joined the grocery chain, the Narragansett Fire & Rescue Department and the Rhode Island State Fire Marshal’s Office on Saturday to greet customers at the Narragansett Stop & Shop store in an effort to raise awareness around grilling fires. NFPA's Sparky the Fire Dog joined the group and was instrumental in getting folks to the table where we provided grilling fire safety tips sheets, fire safety activity books, pencils and more.
While nearly half of the people who grill do so year-round, July is the peak month for grill fires, followed by May, June and August. So this summer, do your part. Make fire safety a top priority for you and your family. Find out how at www.nfpa.org/grilling.
NFPA thanks the great folks at Stop & Shop, Narragansett's Fire Department and RI's State Marshals Office for their help on Saturday and for supporting this very importance cause!
