But let’s not forget about the dangers of fire. There are more fires in winter than in any other season. Half of all home heating fires happen in December, January, and February. The new Fire Safety during Winter Storms tip sheet lists safety reminders on smoke alarms, portable generators, heating, and other topics designed to help keep individuals and families safe during the winter months and establish safe practices throughout the year.
