I am looking to learn more on code based design of Pre-action Sprinkler systems, specifically, the detection portion of the system. I find vague references to manufacturer's requirements, type of heat detector to be used, beam dimensions and beam pockets, etc. But I have not found true specifics of when would you use smoke detection and heat detection side by side, or in a multi-purpose detector? When placing them in a room, how do you know where to start? When should wiring be in a raceway or okay to be free-run? If you are using a double interlock valve, do the A zone detectors need to be a specific distance from the B zone detectors? When would you add a pull station to the room?
I was hoping for more specific design parameters and I am having trouble finding them. Can anyone please point to some of the codes used in design of single and double interlock pre action systems for me to review?
