Today’s Daily Dispatch featured an op-ed by our president Jim Pauley, addressing concerns and questions around how to best protect occupants in the event of an active shooter incident or other hostile event while continuing to maintain adequate safety features in place such as the means of egress.
As Jim noted, upcoming editions of NFPA codes and standards need to continue to address these complex issues in the long-term, but we need to deliver more immediate answers and solutions in the meantime. To that end, NFPA is hosting a workshop next month that will include a cross-section of groups, organizations and individuals who will be working together to develop ideas, recommendations and ways forward to help us address these pressing issues and concerns.
In preparation for this workshop, I’ll be sending out several survey questions (starting today) in an effort to get as much feedback and input as possible - your answers will help guide the workshop’s discussions and contribute to its outcomes.
Thanks in advance for your support on this effort.
So here's today's question, as noted in the title: How far along are we in the world of fire alarm system and security system integration?
