What does NFPA as an information and knowledge organization mean to you?
Proud to work for organization that saves lives and reduce loss with information, knowledge and passion!
well said, I agree!
I Would like to see on line voting for voting members just like technical committees. The voting can seem one sited at times siding with those that can attend. if you are unable to attend you are cut out of the process. School do it why can't the nfpa .
YOu can listen to the arguments online.
A fantastic resource to help spread knowledge of code and safety practices.
It guides our fire departments programs functions and services relative to public safety.
Connects you with other experts who have insights into the challenges you are facing.
Sometimes dangerous due to the effect of people who don't really know anything about the fire service voting on standards that affect it.
An advocate for fire and electrical safety, and utmost organization in code development.
An incredible resource at my finger tips!
It means giving me the power to stand up to my business leaders to remind them that their mission is much more than focusing on squeezing every penny of profit they can imagine, but is people's lives and safety that is what matters... First and foremost!

NFPA and its recommendations, guides, and standards represent the best of peer consensus standards created and honed by a credible, balanced process of stakeholder input and consideration.

industry training and code source
NFPA being the resource and information organization means LEADING the world in fire related research, using the knowledge and experience of MEMBERS, PROVIDING educational resources for people of all ages - especially on TV, radio, and social media. It would be the GO TO organization for law makers, corporate executives, and fire service leaders for credible, research based fire and fire protection advice. It would become so well known for objective information that people outside of NFPA would recognize those 4 letters immediately.
Resource and knowledge requires consistent credibility, best and current research/science, and the means of communicating that information to people both inside and outside of NFPA.
NFPA is the authoritative reference that I use each and every day to ensure my 320 buildings and their many occupants are safe from fire.
It is an awesome resource and a leader in fire safety. Proud to be part of organization and it's professionalism.
The NFPA is the go to source
for all things related to fire protection. Whenever I or my organization require clarification on an issue regarding fire or life safety, it is the NFPA code books that we refer to.
Relieable information to help educate our City government. Without the standards who knows what would happen in this day and age.
NFPA provides scientific and consensus information that few individuals could formulate by themselves. That information is critical to those in code enforcement and likely all stakeholders participating in fire and electrical safety. The credibility of NFPA information and knowledge is a significant benefit.
It's a strong tool to help keep everything uniform across the industry. Without it, there would be mass confusion across the board whenever a technician steps into a building.
I certainly agree with others here. I feel like NFPA has got my back. Like many I work hard to do a good job of designing (electrical) systems. But there are times when the answer to a question is just not clear enough. Asking my peers or posting on a forum can be valuable but is not always correct and can the process can be frustrating. Regarding having an exchange forum the codes are not perfect sometimes understanding the intent or the science behind something makes all the difference in how to apply it. An exchange forum would move many Advisory service conversations into a more public and trackable arena - I am delighted to have just learnt about this.
Thank you for Chicago's conference! I had a great educational experience at the training portion of the Annual Conference. My thanks to those staff members who were involved in assembling the trainers and vetting the information presented. It enhanced my knowledge base and gave me some new ideas to further the positive impact NFPA membeship provides. It gave me a one-stop opportunity to discuss with the members of several organizations how they are utilizing the information as well. I'm certainly looking forward to 2016's conference out west!
It speaks volumes as to where NFPA has been, and is going. Far gone are the days that "we sell fire protection codes and standards". NFPA is flexing more "mission muscle" than it ever has, and everyday, it makes me feel so proud to be a part of it.
It's truly mind boggling how much of a resource NFPA is, in so many facets of Fire Protection, Human & Environmental Outreach, all over the world. What positive momentum we have, knowing more and more everyday, it will continue. The best is yet to come!!!!
