Does anyone know the maximum distance below the ceiling that I can install a system with open head deluge? And where I can find the answer?
What application is this for?? hanger, ,,, something else???
Should be in NFPA 13, have seen deluge but have not done pln review on one.
Will have to check the book.
May also be per manufucature of the entire system.
I am thinking per the manufacture and system designer.
Once again what is the applciation.
Is this a new system question or existing system?
I do not think it matters as long as you maintain the distance between the sprinklers and obstructions below the sprinkler.
The purpose of distance from ceiling to sprinkler is to set the time it takes for heat build-up to activate the sprinkler. Deluge systems do have this need. The concern in this case is to install the detection system to respond promptly.
I would recommend reading manufacturer data sheets on Deluge Nozzles. There isn't a specified distance to the deflector, because you are covering a specific area or item. The Data sheets from the manufacturer will have all the information you need.
