In the 2015 edition of NFPA 101 26.3.6.1 requires all new lodging and rooming houses to have an approved automatic sprinkler system. In the previous 2012 edition NFPA 101 26.3.6.2 allowed an automatic sprinkler system to be not required if there were a door directly to the outside of the sleeping rooms. Since 2015 edition NFPA 101 26.3.6.2

has been reworded and the not required if there were a door directly to the outside of the sleeping rooms has been removed then as stated in NFPA 101 26.3.6.1 requires all NEW lodging and rooming houses have to have an automatic sprinkler system with NO exception.
