NFPA 11 - Fixed Foam Discharge Outlets

Question asked by walter.schmidt on Sep 20, 2016

At 5.7.3.5.3.2 is stated:  for outlets having discharge rates higher than 225 l/min (60 gpm), the maximum distance between discharge outlets shall be 18 m (60 ft).

My questions are:

  1. It may be inferred that an outlet of these characteristics has a maximum coverage radius of 9 m?.
  2. If the answer is yes, it is necessary to install additional protection (eg. foam monitors) to fixed foam discharge outlets when the distance between opposite walls of the dyke is more than 18 meters?
