hi im looking for a reference to a code for clearances required around a fire hose cabinet type 2
Enough to open the door and use the equipment in it.
Cabinets containing fire-fighting equipment, such as standpipes, fire hose, fire extinguishers or fire department valves, shall not be blocked from use or obscured from view.
NFPA 1 2015 ED. Chapter 13 Section 13.1.4 states that A minimum of 36" of clear space shall be maintained to permit access to and operation of fire protection equipment, ...............
Just my opinion. Hope this answers your question.
Check with your local fire code. If modeled after the international code, then follow what Lawrence suggested with 36" clearance. Only thing that I would add is that it must be visible. If not, it needs to have a sign indicating its location.
