is it recommended at any NFPA Code to have FM200 system at telephone room or electrical rooms? and is it related to room's area (if it is small room we will use only fire extinguishers , however if it is big electrical room we use FM200?
The NFPA standards do not recommend the use of FM-200 (clean agent) systems. That selection is based on a risk assessment of the rooms to be protected.
The Building Codes provide mandates as to what buildings/spaces need sprinkler protection based on Occupancy Classification and Fire Areas (Section 903). If a sprinkler system is required, then all spaces must have sprinklers.
Section 904 allows for alternative fire extinguishing systems in lieu of sprinklers provided certain installation criteria are met, however if a clean agent system is utilized a sprinkler system may also be required to meet the fire protection requirements as fire rating tradeoffs may have been opted with the installation of sprinklers.
