Canadians and Smart Enforcement

Discussion created by kathleenalmand Employee on Oct 5, 2016

We have several Canadian fire prevention personnel who have joined our Smart Enforcement conversations.  The Canadians have done some innovative work in this field - using data to inform their Community Risk Reduction Programs.

Here are a few examples:

John Kobarda, City of London, Ontario - shared this article on the use of demographic data to "market" fire safety.

Len Garis, City of Surrey, BC - shared this research on the effectiveness of smoke alarms and sprinklers on loss reduction

Frank Lamie, City of Toronto, CA - shared this web based integrated risk management tool for fire prevention from the Ontario Fire Marshal's office.

NFPA is working with these leaders and others to develop a suite of tools for the enforcement, fire prevention community.  If you are interested in working with us, please let me know.
