In figure J.2 on page 89 it states that we do I think as most older 480VAC buckets have exposed live conductors on the line side of the breaker. If the Bucket is locked out and I need to verify loss of power due I have to have a permit?
According to NFPA 70E-2015, ART130.2(B)(3) "An energized electrical work permit shall not be required if a qualified person is provided with and uses appropriate safe work practices and PPE in accordance with Chapter 1 under the following conditions: (1) Testing, troubleshooting, and voltage measuring.
The key here is that all of these conditions must be met: Qualified Person, applying appropriate safe work practices, and wearing the appropriate PPE. Please do not hesitate to reply if you have additional questions.
