Guidance on branch line restraint spacing

Question asked by Victoria Winn on Nov 7, 2016

I have a central feed with branch lines that extend approximately 30 ft to the left and right.  The branch line is around 24" above the feed, so there is a short stub up to the branch line.  According to NFPA 13, the max restraint spacing should be 46 ft for Cp and the pipe diameter.  I understand that restraints must be provided at each end of the branch, but is an additional restraint required near the middle (60 ft total length)?  Does the drop / connection to the feed negate the need for a more centrally located restraint on the branch?
