Do you know how many sprinklers could be connected to a branch line hydraulically calculated?
Is there a requirement per NFPA 13?.
Thanks a lot,
The older versions of NFPA 13 limited the number of sprinkler heads on a branch line to 8...I believe that was based on the pipe schedule system. I don't see that requirement in the later versions.
See this information in NFPA 13 2016
23.4.1 (Commentary text), FAQ
The use of the hydraulic calculation procedure, which is favored over the pipe scheduleprocedure, does not impose any limit on the number of sprinklers supplied by certain diametersof pipe. The determining factor for any such limit rests with the capacity of the watersupply.
184.108.40.206 The size of pipe, number of sprinklers per branch line, and number of branch linesper cross main shall otherwise be limited only by the available water supply.
220.127.116.11 (Commentary text)
The number of sprinklers per branch line is limited (see 18.104.22.168, 22.214.171.124, and A.23.5.4)on pipe schedule systems, and, prior to 1966, the number of branch lines on a cross main waslimited to 14 (see 126.96.36.199). These rules do not apply to hydraulically designed systems.
In my opinion your hydraulic calculation and water supply capacity will dictate the limitation.
Thank you very much Sandra!
I really appreciate your help!
