Is there anything in NFPA with regards to putting door sweeps on stairway doors?
I am not aware of anything extra in NFPA80 that calls for the installation of door sweeps for stairwells. The clearance under the door cannot be more than 3/4" and if it is, I believe a listed product such as a sweep may be used to accommodate that as long as it is installed in accordance with its listing. (That clearance goes down to 3/8" when the bottom of the door is elevated, like on the edge of a loading dock.) Our National Building Code of Canada requires weatherstripping on fire doors that separate required fire compartments in certain care and treatment occupancies. Not sure what you use for a building code where you are, but perhaps there is a requirement in that, outside of NFPA80.
