Is there a outside hose allowance required for NFPA 13R hydraulic calc (for adding to at the source)?
I also would like an answer to this question. The language in A7.2 suggests that hose streams are not required for 13R.
Hi, I did not see an edition referenced but have some insight. The IBC 2000 (a municipality I have a 13R system right now in has that as their adopted code) references NFPA 13R-96. 13R-96's section 2-5.1.3 states for Water Demand it is the design demand per sprinkler combined for the fire sprinklers in the calculations. To me the omission of an item in the standard means it is not required, i.e. no fire hose demand is stated. There are specific sections in more modern editions of NFPA 13R and its annex that contain the verbiage, but most specific commentary that I have seen makes reference to verbiage in the Annex of 2002.
