I had situation recently where I work. We needed to install an electric strike to a door / frame that had a latching lockset. The SC door and HM frame were fire rated. I ordered a FR 1006 HES strike.
My Tech came back who is a door inspector too and said I'd need to have the door core drilled, order a transfer hinge, order an electric lock/latch and then get the door recertified.
Could the FR 1006 only have been used if the original factory of the door frame had cut & installed the strike and not an existing door frame in the field needing cutting in the field? I thought I could have made cuts in the field for the strike if needed?
