IFMA Proposed By-law Changes 6-17

The following by-law changes will be voted on at the Annual Business meeting to be held June 3, 2017 at the Westin Hotel, Boston, MA. The meeting starts at 3:00 pm ET.

Change Article 1. Name the name of this organization shall be the International Fire Marshals Association, hereafter shown as the Association.

Change 4.7 In the case of a vacancy in any office, the remaining officers shall ascend to the next highest position and the Executive Board shall have the authority to fill the vacant Secretary position until the next Annual meeting.

 Revise 5.2.1 The board shall consist of a minimum of one member, but not more than four members, from each of the following categories, for a total of eight, not including the immediate past president: (a) members representing a State Fire Marshal Office, (b) members representing populations greater than 50,000, and (c) members representing populations of less than 50,000.

New 8.9 If a nominee is unable to fulfill the position between the submission of the nominating committee report and the business meeting, a 66% vote of the entire executive board shall be able to modify the nominating committee report prior to the business meeting.
