It was great to be a part of the Rural Firefighting Symposium last week - thank you to all those who made the trip to Quincy to share your thoughts with my colleagues and me!
One topic we touched on was how your departments are using social media, and while most departments are using this valuable channel, there was definitely some talk about how you could be using it better.
A few notes we wanted to pass on to the larger group:
- You can share NFPA content! Follow our social media pages and feel free to share content. (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube)
- Use a management tool like Hootsuite to manage multiple social media channels, schedule posts, and generally make social media management an easier task.
- Reach out to local high schools or universities for help with social media - you may find an intern or class that is willing to create a strategic plan, website, etc. as a class project
