Fire Door Inspections

The Joint Commission added a new EP ,EP 25, that addressed fire door inspections. It refers to NFPA 80 to use as a guide. states that clearances should be measured from the pull side of the door. In a facility which construction dates range from 1937 thru present, this is almost impossible to achieve without a major expense. All of our doors are in compliant except many of them will not meet the 1/8" gap measured for the pull face of the door.I know that there are many companies that are now selling repair programs and materials but this is very expensive also. I do not understand that if a door has a stop on the frame and the door meets the stop and all other requirements, why this is not sufficient. Any comments or thoughts will be appreciated.
