NFPA 13D System:  When an existing residence is added onto and the new fire sprinkler piping is tied into the existing riser, is this considered one system if the hydraulic calcs. are done for the addition only?  Supply piping for the new system is run through a chase from the original residence to new garage with residence above.  Engineer was not able to access original sprinkler plans for existing residence.

Thank you.
