Hello,

I am seeking an answer to a question in regards to a building sprinkler system. The building is a mixed use building in NYC which consists of a storefront and two residential apartments above; one on the second floor and one on the third floor. The building is protected by an automatic sprinkler system. I am new to sprinkler systems and don't know much although I am trying to familiarize myself with them. I was asked if the system is hydraulically calculated or pipe schedule system. How do I determine this?

Also, the system appears to be relatively new, within the last thirty years approximately. Why would the system be installed in a building such as this if there is no manufacturing and egress is adequate with fire escape? The building is constructed with brick and wood?

Utimateley I am trying to figure out the difference between a pipe schedule and hydraulic system? how do I tell?

Thank you in advance.
