In the existing facility I am working on there is a small pharmacy and medicine storage rooms in various locations. Would they be considered hazardous areas.
My experience with plan reviewing and inspecting these types of occupancies, my answer would be yes.
The area use for storage is required by the 2012 Life Safety Code (LSC) per Section 18.3.2 Protection from Hazards.
However, if you converting an existing room or space, the enclosure is permitted to comply to Section 19.3.2 of the LSC per Section 126.96.36.199.
