Is UL certification required by the National Electric Code for electrical equipment?

I am part of a team building an indoor farm in Pahrump, NV, and we are trying to figure out whether the electrical equipment we purchase, some of which will be coming from outside the US, is required to be UL certified. Our permitting authority uses the NEC 2005 as its acting code.

Is there are requirement in the NEC that electrical equipment be UL or otherwise certified? Thanks!
