Is the neutral wire still allowed to be down sized on an overhead service. and does it still require to be continues trough the meter can bonding lugs?
220.61(B) permits an additional demand factor of 70% to be applied to neutral conductor of a feeder supplying electric ranges, wall ovens, counter mounted cook tops, and dryers. This reduction only applies to the calculated load for those types of appliances and cannot be applied to the general purpose 120V lighting and receptacle load.
Example D1(b) One-Family Dwelling in Annex D in the NEC shows how to perform the reduction calculation.
