art.18.104.22.168.2 Sprinklers shall not be required under obstructionsthat are not fixed in place, such as conference tables.
Can we apply this article to a mobile mezzanine or Jig, and what could be the maximum acceptable surface?
Will you define/ describe this a little more::
Include size, and is the floor solid or grate??
mobile mezzanine or Jig
The floor is solid, and we have 2 type, 1 30'X30' and th other one 40'X 17'
So how are these moble???
Why are they moble?
Do you have a link to a picture of what one looks like??
Those sound like good obstructions.
Is there anything ever stored under them??
an interesting question. As a minimum, I would consider installing smoke detector(s) on the underside of the jig for early detection, or use an early warning system like Vesda. If the amount of combustibles stored beneath the jig is significant, adding sidewall sprinklers with baffle plates as heat trap on both sides of the jig along the tracks might be the best solution.
Can you find a link to a similar picture of what all this looks like
No storage under, and they are mobile for the purpose of line move required for production, theyh have to be move over then 50'
Thanks for the picture
Ok I was envisioning something else.
I would say no problem as long as they stay mobile use, and are not parked for a year or so,
And not storage under them.
Maybe mount a couple of fire extinguishers on it!!!!
I agree with cda cda.
Contact a fire sprinkler engineer, that's really your best option for these types of situations. If they can't help you I'd contact the AHJ.
