We have a walk in freezer about 12 inches from our building. Does this require a sprinkler?
Normally the answer is NO
Is it attached in any way at all? Roof over it? I assume the building itself is sprinklered?
I am going to say it depends. With the main building is sprinklered, if one of the exterior walls and openings between the two buildings are 1-hour fire resistance construction, you may be okay not to sprinkler the freezer building. If not, most the freezer buildings within 60 ft of another sprinklered buildings in my healthcare facility jurisdiction has been sprinklered. See section 704 of the IBC concerning exterior wall requirements.
