we are carrying out the construction works of a trasportation/infrastructure project.
The design we have been provided with shows toilets with fire rated doors at disable toilets, and in addition it was proposed an automatic door opening system for disable person.
When we submitted the door assembly for approval, we received a rejection. The comments was that it was not in line with NFPA 80.
It is my understanding that the comment was generated because an automatic door opening system cannot be positive latched in case of power failure or emergency scenario, regardless of the fact that the automatic opener is fail-safe.
Will the issue be solved if we provide as well an electrically retained latch controlled by BMS which will be released in case of power failure or fire scenarios?
