Pump testing without nozzles

For very large fire pump testing (say like 2500 GPm) would it be possible to pitot a fire hose, connected to a manifold...without reducing down to a 1.75 nozzle? Could you use the full 2.5 to reduce the number of hoses needed?

I know that there are pitot charts available, I've just never personally seen a pump test done without the 1.75 nozzles on the end of the hoses.
