NFPA 72 - Ch 17:

At one of our buildings,  we have magnetic door hold opens for a fire-rated wall opening right next to a cooking hood that has 3 times now tripped a smoke detector….(this wall is not a smoke partition) and the magnetic hold opens release upon smoke activation…..they also initiate a fire alarm.   Are they required to be an initiating device?  Can they be supervisory?

Thank you! Sam
