In construction it is common to see long runs of unsupported temporary electrical cords/cables and welding cables from ground level power sources to elevated work areas. This situation will stretch insulation and conductors creating a hazard. I cannot locate specific electrical safety rules regarding the supporting of long vertical runs of temporary cabling at specific intervals and the methods of securing cabling to the adjacent structure, cable attachment to a vertical rope or other safe means.
Where can I locate clear guidelines or requirements on this subject? Need something other than the general duty clause.
Comments appreciated.
That is ridiculous (not you, but the picture). In fact if one looks real close it looks like there is a cut in the insulation where the cable is wrapped around what appears to be a scaffold??
