any ideas for fire protection or fire alarm system Utilities area (HVAC and water filter)
If the building is sprinklered, then the utility area should have sprinklers. Other than that, not much is required unless there are flammable liquids present.
okay i have a pharmaceutical plant and the utility area located on the roof of administration building the building is already sprinkled however the utility area is not. could you give me any guideline or reference to follow for the fire safety in utility area .
In the utility area there are :
chillers and HVAC System
purifed water station
2 ups units
main Electrical distribution panel
7 fans exhaust
thank you in advanced
The utility are should be sprinklered or alternatively have a 2 hour fire rated wall separating it form the rest of the pharmaceutical facility. Appropriate fire extinguishers must be present. Fire detection not required but might be useful if there won't be sprinklers. See NFPA 1 and NFPA 101 for further guidance.
