I work at a college and recently new offices were built, using metal studs and drywall. There are walls separating the offices but the acoustic ceiling tiles continues over the walls. I have a wire installed through the ceiling tile and through the top of the wall to feed outlet in the wall. The ceiling tile in half in one office and half in the other and the wire is through the tile. 2 separate rooms. My question is, if a ceiling tile that falls in a situation like this, should it not or can it not be cut in half to be removed due to fire rating of the ceiling between offices?
