Good Morning All,

I would like to ask, when you calculate flow (base calculation) do you include coefficient or excess?

For example:

CMDA

0.30gpm/ft2 (12.2 mm/min) x 2500 ft2 (232 m2) = approximately 750 gpm (2831 L/min) x 1.4 = 1050 gpm (3964 L/min)

1.4 is for disturbance flow excess/coefficient is this correct to add?

ESFR

Sprinkler flow = (52 psi)^1/2 x 16.8  x 1.05= approximately 128 gpm x 12 sprinklers =  1536 gpm

Sprinkler flow = (3.6 bar)^1/2 x (240) x 1.05= approximately 479 l/min x 12 sprinklers= 5478 L/min

1.05 is for disturbance flow excess/coefficient is this correct to add?

Because in NFPA 13 I couldn't find anything.

Thank you in advance for the help.

Best regards

Sebastian Nowak
