NFPA 86 Standard for Ovens and Furnaces states the following:
18.104.22.168 Use of aluminum or lead components, including solders that contain lead, or other incompatible materials in
tanks, piping, valves, fittings, filters, strainers, or controls that might have contact with methanol liquid or vapor shall not be permitted.
Does anyone know if plating can be used on aluminum components for applications involving methanol? We have a product for measuring and controlling flow of methanol in industrial applications. Currently, we use stainless steel for the material, but would consider other materials if they could be plated for this application.
