Hello, good day!

I’ve a doubts over a installation that I’m doing actually, I wish that you can help me please. These are about air venting.

NFPA 13 edition 2019 section 16.7 mentions:

“The vent required by 8.1.5 shall be located near a high point in the system to allow air to be removed from that portion of the system by one of the following methods:

  1. Manual valve, minimum ½ in (15mm) size
  2. Automatic air vent
  3. Remote inspector’s test valve
  4. Other approved means”

In the design of the fire sprinkler system was proposed the option 2; “Automatic air vent”. The work of this valve is to exhaust as much trapped air as possible from a

single location every time the system is filled.

My questions are: After of filled, with the system full of water, below normal conditions; Drainage recommended by the manufacturer,

is only when you are filling the system (for specifically in this event)? Or Can this valve release water in normal conditions (static water) that is necessary this drainage?

Thanks for your response.
