My central supply manager wants to store supplies in a wire rack in the corridor of an OR suite. What code can I reference for this?
Thanks in advance for your help and feedback.
Corridor within a suite seems like a conflicting description for the application of the 2012 NFPA 101.
"126.96.36.199 Suite (Health Care Occupancies). A series of rooms or spaces or a subdivided room separated from the remainder of the building by walls and doors."
No exit access corridors are required by NFPA 101 within a suite of rooms.
Please clarify the use of the circulating space in the OR area.
Thanks for the additional information. It will help in the use of the Life Safety Code and to give you a meaningful answer.
What code can I reference for this?
Reference code is the 2012 NFPA 101:
188.8.131.52(4) under the capacity of the means of egress limits the items in the exit access corridor.
184.108.40.206.5(7) under protection from hazards limits the use of the room or space (suite corridor) used for storage of combustible supplies and equipment.
Hope this helps.
