We are bidding on an Aircraft hangar in Cincinnati, OH. Does NFPA 409 require 2 fire pumps for this type of project.
One fire pump for the active systems, and one for back up in case the first fire pump tops working ?
NFPA 409 Section 220.127.116.11 - "Where foam concentrate is introduced into the water stream by pumping, the total foam concentrate pumping capcity shall be such that the maximum flows and pressures shall be capable of being met with teh largest foam concentrate pump out of service. The reserve pump(s) shall be arranged to operate only upon failure of the primary pump."
Fire Pumps - NFPA 409 Section 18.104.22.168 - "No fewer than two fire pumps shall be provided".
