Buenos tardes,
Hola amigo,
Para NEC, possiblemente. Depende de tipo de equipo.
We used to say "no" but now we say "maybe."
Actually, the answer is "it depends on the equipment."
800.170 Equipment. Communications equipment shall be
listed as being suitable for electrical connection to a communications
network.
We (myself included) often forget about the Articles in the back of the book!
Also, the network interface unit in Article 830 is required to be listed.
Also communications equipment in Article 840 is required to be listed.
Also, service equipment less than 1000-volts (230.66, 2017 NEC) is required to be listed.
Also, any appliance operating at over 50-volts shall be listed (422.6, 2017 NEC).
Also, heating equipment covered in Article 424 is required to be listed (424.6, 424.102, 2017 NEC).
Also, industrial process heating equipment is required to be listed (425.6, 2017 NEC).
Also, de-icing and snow melting equipment is required to be listed. (I give up...)
Also, system isolation equipment for motors is required to be listed.
Also, storage batteries and storage battery management equipment is required to be listed.
Also, combustible gas detection equipment is required to be listed.
Also, all intrisincally safe apparatus is required to be listed.
Also, spray application equipment shall be listed.
Also, isolated power equipment that is used in health care shall be listed.
Also, fuel cell system equipment shall be listed.
Fixed stage switchboards and portable stage switchboards are required to be listed, and curtain machines are required to be listed.
Also, projectors and enclosures for arc, xenon, and incandescent lamps and rectifiers, transformers, rheostats, and "similar equipment" is required to be listed.
Also, any equipment attached to a mobile home, manufactured home, or park trailer is required to be listed.
Also, inverters, motor generators, PV modules, PV panels, ac PV modules, dc combiners, dc-ac converters, and charge controllers intended for use in PV powered sign systems are required to be listed for PV application.
So I guess the correct answer when someone asks, "Does electrical equipment need to be listed?" would be:
it depends on the type of equipment one is referring to.
