Can I put electric in-floor heating (Schluter Dittra) in a large master walkin closet?
What did they say when you called your local building department? If you are talking about the mats that they sell on Ama zon, I would assume that you could, but the AHJ would best answer this.
Local Building follows NEC. See below. The Dittra system is the wire system that's imbedding in the mat and then tiles over. The closet is 70sqt and trying to determine if the code below pertains to a standard room closet and their is different guidelines for a walkin closet. Thanks for your help.
Whatever you posted in the picture - I can't see it. Just give me the Article number and I will look it up.
Let me guess...
424.38 Area Restrictions.
It's like I said before - the local AHJ would best answer this. They would determine if it's a closet, or a room, or a chicken coop, or whatever.
PS - I can't find where that product is listed. Who is the listing agency?
As an AHJ, and a consumer of that very product I can say I would not have a problem with it being installed in a closet. I would however require a floor sensor be installed in the closet to prevent overheating.
I can't find where that product is listed. Who is the listing agency?
The one I used is sold by Sun Touch and is listed by UL standard 1673 listing file number E185866. Also CAN/CSA C 22.2 13.2-93
Have only started using it this winter and I can tell you it is well worth the time and effort to install.
Thanks. I had tried pulling up info on the Schluter Dittra model and while I can say that they have very good marketing, I can't find anything close to a listing.
