Elevator Lobby Smoke Curtains

I have a building with emergency smoke curtains installed in front of the elevator doors on each floor of the building. The manufacturer recommends that we test/inspect these units every 6 months by activating the lobby smoke detector. We would rather test them on an annual basis during our normal fire alarm testing. The manual for these just references NFPA 72 and states that they fall under "connected equipment" .

My question is, is there any thing in the code that states that we have to test/inspect these every 6 months or can it be during our annual testing?
